Frequently Asked Questions

What happens when an absconding report is filed?

Once filed, the employee's work permit is suspended and their residency may be affected. The employee is notified through MOHRE systems and has the right to dispute the report within the legally defined timeframe.

Can an absconding report be withdrawn?

Yes. The employer can withdraw the report through Tasheel. Withdrawal must happen before MOHRE takes final action. We handle the withdrawal process at Amer MBS.

What are my rights if an absconding report is filed against me?

You have the right to dispute the report through MOHRE. You can file a counter-complaint if you believe the report is unjust. Seek advice as soon as possible — time limits apply.

How long does withdrawal take?

Withdrawal is typically processed within 1–3 business days after submission through Tasheel. The employee's status is restored once MOHRE processes the withdrawal.

Is there a fee for filing an absconding report?

Government fees for absconding-related transactions start from AED 76. Additional Amer MBS service fees apply for typing and submission.

Can I file an absconding report for a domestic worker?

Yes. Domestic worker absconding follows a separate MOHRE process. Different documentation is required and the procedures differ from standard employee absconding. Contact us for guidance specific to your case.

What documents are needed for a domestic worker absconding report?

You need the sponsor's Emirates ID and passport copy, the domestic worker's passport copy, the original MOHRE domestic worker contract, and any evidence of the absence (such as a police report). Amer MBS guides you through the specific requirements based on your case.

What happens to a domestic worker after an absconding report is filed?

The worker's residency status is flagged in the system, which may prevent them from transferring to another sponsor or exiting the country normally. The worker has the right to dispute the report through MOHRE. If the dispute is valid, the report may be withdrawn. Employers should ensure the report is justified — false reports can result in penalties.
